Ryder Weds The Iceman

Winona Ryder has stepped in to replace a pregnant Maggie Gyllenhaal in an upcoming biopic crime flick The Iceman says Deadline.

Based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski (Michael Shannon) a man who for more than 40 years led a double life as both a professional assassin and a loving husband and father in suburban New Jersey. Kuklinski killed over one hundred people during his life and never felt remorse except for hurting his family. His family and neighbors believed he was an average businessman, having no idea about his deadly alternate life.

Ryder will be playing Kuklinski’s wife.


Chris Evans will play his mentor assassin known as Robert “Mr. Softee” Prongue, while David Schwimmer is set to play serial killer Josh Rosenthal.

Mickey Rourke, Ray Liotta and James Franco have also been linked to the project at different times in the casting process

At first David McKenna ("Blow," "American History X") adapted the script from Philip Carlo book and Anthony Bruno's book now Ariel Vromen who will direct the pic penned a screenplay he co-wrote with with Morgan Land.

Matty Beckerman will produce.

The film begins shooting in Louisiana in January.
