Trek 2: Kahn Job

This is getting a bit ridiculous... it appears that Latino Review was correct concerning that "scoop" from an un named source claiming that the villain in the as yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel will indeed be Kahn according to a highly placed source via Vulture.

Khan Noonien Singh the genetically enhanced human of the 1967 episode of "Star Trek" called Space Seed as well as the big screen sequel Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan played by Ricardo Montalban and in the process solidified himself as the best Trek villain period...

When HitFix contacted director J.J. Abrams about the Kahn report, he responded with a "Not true." Of course, Abrams is a master at denials and there''s no way that he would've said Yes anyway

Now we find out Kahn will NOT be played by Benicio del Toro--it seems the deal with del Toro collapsed last Wednesday after both parties couldn't come to terms over a dollar amount--As a result the filmmakers are scrambling to fill the role so that the mid January start won't be delayed.

It's been pretty divided among those with an opinion about Kahn being in the film--if  Del toro paid attention to that--he seems pretty skittish about doing high profile films in general--but this is even beyond that

Alice Eve is in serious talks for a major role as is former "Robocop" star Peter Weller.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho are all returning to the Final Frontier in their respective roles

Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof wrote the script.

The sequel will be produced by Abrams, Kurtzman, Orci, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, and David Ellison.

The sequel will open on May 17th 2013 and is being shot in 3-D.
