Ricardo de Montreuil May Leave His Mark On Zorro Reborn

Peruvian filmmaker Ricardo de Montreuil now finds himself at the front of the line to call action on the sci-fi re-imagining film "Zorro Reborn" says Variety.

This film takes the legend of Zorro from the Spanish colonial era in California to a future world The character will be driven more by vengeance rather than justice in the story. The masked hero of the people will go up against an evil tyrant and his gang of mercenaries

De Montreuil will have a screen test with Zorro's likely leading man Gael Garcia Bernal, but his directing deal is not yet a sure thing.

"Harker" scribes Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy wrote the most recent script draft.

Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and David Higgins will produce the film.
