Coming Soon reports that Terry Gilliam’s long-gestating passion project “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" is back on after spending years development hell.
Gilliam told the site that once his film "The Zero Theorem" is out that "I'm going to try to do 'Don Quixote' again."
Gilliam jokes that this will be "the seventh time" he has tried to get the film made, and that one of the main motivators is to get it done now just so that he can let go of it:
"We'll see if it happens. This is kind of my default position, going back to that. I actually just want to make it and get rid of it. Get it out of my life."
Gilliam has tried to make this $35 million feature starring Johnny Depp since 2000, but the film famously fell apart during production. Then, Gilliam pegged Ewan McGregor to star trying to get it going again, this time with a smaller $20 million budget
