Johansson Shut Out Of Awards Season Over "Her" Voice

Scarlett Johansson's work for the Spike Jonze sci-fi romance "Her" may be getting a lot of praise but it is still going to have difficulty getting any awards recognition.

The story is set in a near future in which a lonely writer (Joaquin Phoenix) begins to fall in love with the voice of a new operating system he has purchased.

Samantha Morton was previously set to play perform the OS voice and acted out the role on-set. But once Jonze began editing the film he realized he would need a different voice--Johansson stepped in.

THR says that Warner Bros was recently notified by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that her role has been deemed ineligible for consideration for a Golden Globe nomination.

The studio lodged an appeal regarding the decision, and in any case plans to proceed with its awards campaign for Johansson.

Rooney Mara, Amy Adams and Chris Pratt also star.

Megan Ellison is producing the film.
