The new film will focus on Beth and Gina, the characters played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin. The pair are part of Melissa McCarthy's cop character’s extended family.
Tricia McAlpin is writing the script, while Feig and Jessie Henderson are producing.
The storyline is currently being worked on.
This project won't preclude or affect the notion of making "The Heat 2" in any way.
