The Wolverine 2: Story Will Come From Comic

We already know that Fox is moving forward with plans for a Wolverine Sequel and that "The Wolverine" director James Mangold is tipped to return.

The 2013 film was initially written by Christopher McQuarrie--then reworked by Mark Bomback--is set mostly in Japan and is based on the great mini-series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is based on a -2 issue story arc in the 'X-Men' comics published in 1981

Mangold was asked by I Am Rogue whether the sequel would also be based on a storyline from the comic:

"Absolutely. I can tell you that in determining where we are going I’m not solely relying on my own imagination but also the imaginations that have spun great stories about Wolverine in the comics."

Mangold didn't say which story he might use, but has agreed that the story will likely take place during the two-year gap between "The Wolverine" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past":

"I honestly have sketches and ideas, but there are many alternatives and that certainly is indeed a window that exists."
