Tentatively titled "Tolkien," the drama will examine the South Africa-born, English raised author's life from his formative years at Pembroke College to his years as a soldier in World War I where many of his closest friends were killed in combat. The film will examine how his life experiences influenced him and his work.
Tolkien super fan David Gleeson is writing the script.
Peter Chernin will produce the film.
Several attempts have been made to do a film about Tolkien to no avail It's unknown if the Tolkien estate is cooperating with this project.
