Christopher McQuarrie ("Jack Reacher") is now confirmed to direct using a script by "Iron Man 3" scripter Drew Pearce.

Tom Cruise will star again as special operative Ethan Hunt in the sequel--which reunites Cruise with his "Reacher" writer/director.

Paramount Pictures has set an official release date of December 25th 2015 for the pic. That puts it one week after the opening of "Star Wars: Episode VII" on December 18th.
