Jones Bids Goodbye To Ian Fleming Biopic

"Moon" and "Source Code" director Duncan Jones has vacated the Untitled Biopic of James Bond creator Ian Fleming says The Wrap.

Jones was due to write and direct here, but scheduling became an issue due to his duties for "Warcraft", the long time coming feature film adaptation of the MMORPG "World of Warcraft" franchise.

Producers are unwilling to wait and thus are currently searching for a new director who can begin casting by next year.

The film focuses on Fleming's younger years as an aimless playboy growing up under the shadow of a famous family, and his experiences in World War II as an intelligence officer in the British Royal Navy that changed his life. It also gave him inspiration for the character of James Bond based on his own exploits, penning twelve 007 novels and two collections of short stories from starting in 1953 until his death in 1964.

The screenplay is based on the Andrew Lycett biography and is the first feature to have the cooperation of the Fleming Estate.

Oliver Simon, Daniel Baur, Kevin Frakes, Stuart Fenegan, Jim Young and Robert Laycock are producing the film.

James McAvoy was previously linked to play Fleming back in 2009.
