Dreadstar Comic Becomes A Movie

Heat Vision reports that Benderspink and Illuminati Entertainment will bring Jim Starlin's 1980s cult comic book series "Dreadstar" to the big screen.

The story follows Vanth Dreadstar, the last survivor of the Milky Way Galaxy who is torn between two powerful and evil empires, the Monarch and the Church of The Instrumentality. He is aided by a motley crew of survivors - the mystic Syzygy Darklock, the telepath Willow and a cat-man called Oedi.

The search for a writer to pen the adapted script is underway.

J.C. Spink and Ford Lytle Gilmore will produce the film.

Starlin is the co-creator of characters like the villainous Thanos (seen in the credit post-script of The Avengers), Drax the Destroyer and Gamora who all figure into the August film adaptation of Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy"
