THR reports that Lana and Andy Wachowski's sci-fi thriller Jupiter Ascending finds itself suddenly bumped from this year's release schedule just over six weeks out from its debut.
Warner Bros planned to release the film on July 18th, a highly profitable time of year which they used for two of the films in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy Now though, the film has been pushed all the way back to February 6th 2015.
The reason for the delay of the $150 million film is said to be due to it requiring more special effects work. The studio has to swallow the marketing spend they've done on the thus far which has included various trailers and posters.
The plot is said to involve higher forms of life on other
planets watching us. These beings have some human and animal DNA in
them.
The soon to be Mrs. Ashton Kutcher--Mila Kunis will play a Russian immigrant and toilet cleaner who unknowingly carries "the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule." A bounty hunter (Channing Tatum) is dispatched to kill her, but they fall in love.
Sean Bean will play a roguish character named Stinger. Eddie Redmayne Tuppence Middleton Aussie actor Kick Gurry and Douglas Booth also star. South Korean actress Doona Bae's role is said to be "very small" in the pic Industry helmer Terry Gilliam has
agreed to act for a key cameo in the pic. No details have emerged on
whom Redmayne, Booth, and Middleton will play. Middleton and Bean worked
before on Cleanskin with the Wachowskis.
The delay ended up pushing Jaume Collet-Serra's action thriller "Run All Night" out of that February 6th slot - a new date has not been announced.
