Jordan Vogt-Roberts ("The Kings Of Summer") has begun early talks to direct the long gestating film adaptation of the popular "Metal Gear Solid" video game franchise says Deadline.
The first in the series of stealth-based games, which began back in 1998, follows an attempt to take back a secret military base from genetically enhanced soldiers who have hostages in tow and a dangerous next-generation nuclear weapon. Since then the series has spawned numerous sequels and a highly complex mythology and lore all its own with the games jumping to various different eras in the 20th century to further unfold its tale.
Avi Arad and Michael De Luca are producing the film.
Sony Pictures
has been developing an adaptation of for nearly a decade. Part of the
reason it took so long to get here is that it has taken time for the
game creators and the studio to come to an agreement on to how to tell
protagonist Solid Snake's story.
