Sly Stallone Is "Scarpa"

Deadline reports that  Sylvester Stallone is attached to play real-life hit-man Gregory Scarpa in the crime biopic "Scarpa".


Scarpa was a career criminal and an enforcer for the  Colombo crime family. The project will focus on his work as an informant for the FBI and helping solve the Mississippi Burning case by allegedly pistol-whipping and kidnapping a member of the Ku Klux Klan in 1964. Scarpa pleaded guilty in 1993 to three murders and died of complications from AIDS in prison in 1994.

Goodfellas” and “Casino” writer Nicholas Pileggi wrote the script from which “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Runner Runner” helmer Brad Furman set to call  action.

The project will re-team Stallone with “Rocky” producer Irwin Winkler and Avi Lerner, who teamed with Stallone on Expendables film series will also produce.

 The film hopes to begin shooting very early next year.
