Plans for the remake of a third horror flick have been taken out of the pipeline...
STYD says Screen Gems has stalled a remake of Tom Holland's 85 cult classic vampire flick "Fright Night"
The studio suits couldn't settle on a script they liked after several pitch sessions-The project has been shelved for now.
The move comes just a few weeks after a remake of the vampire western "Near Dark" was nixed--As was an update of Rosemary's Baby.
In the original Fright, Charley (William Ragsdale) is convinced his new neighbor Jerry (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire. Soon he enlists the help of a classic horror movie actor turned campy cable show host (Roddy McDowall) to help him prove it.
Is the tide starting to turn the other way in Hollywood's remake rutt?
Doubt it. But it never hurts to dream...
