Holiday Road

Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin is set to helm and produce a reboot of National Lampoon's Vacation" film series says the Heat Vision Blog.

The original series of 4 films from 1983-1997 followed the Griswold family as they took a summer road trip across America, a European Vacation, stayed home for a Christmas Vacation, (the best of the sequels in my opinion) and a Vegas Vacation with mishaps happening all along the way. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo starred as the adult Griswolds .

The reboot will now follow the next generation of the family, lead by the son Rusty Griswold--who is now taking his own family on a road trip of their own.

Rusty Griswold has been played by four different actors throughout the series with Anthony Michael Hall being the first....

Though the new film will reference the original pics, it's not clear if Chase and D'Angelo would make appearances as grandparents...

Writers will be met with shortly to develop the idea into a screenplay--having big shoes to fill with the late great John Hughes, having written 3 out of 4 of the films.
