Ross Gets Venom

Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville") who is already rewriting the Spider-Man 4, screenplay will also rework the Venom spin-off as well says the Heat Vision Blog..

Topher Grace played the character in 2007's " Spider-Man 3,", but there's no word if Grace will return as human Eddie Brock or even if the story will be a continuation of that pic or a reboot with no link to the "Spider-Man" universe.

Grace, who has just signed on to star in “Robert Rodriguez’s Predators” therefore he may not return to the role if it's fast tracked.

Ross, who may also direct, takes over from recent "Venom" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Variety is also reporting that the new film will transform Venom into “an anti-hero who becomes a defender of the innocent.”

This would be reminiscent of the '90s era “Venom” comics that cast the character as a “Lethal Protector.”

I hope that move doesn't happen-- while the switch from bad to good was initially successful, the character's bite if you will never fully recovered.
