The pic was originally conceived as a big studio film but is now being “reconfigured” as an indie.

Ryan Gosling, Shia Labeouf, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Shannon, and Paul Dano have all been mentioned as cast choices but none have yet to sign on.

The movie--to be directed by John Hillcoat (The Road)-- takes place during the Great Depression in the American south and follows three brothers who were the center of a dangerous criminal ring. The movie also follows an author who covers and researches bootlegging and Moonshine.
