Orlando Bloom has signed on to play the lead in the upcoming indie drama The Good Doctor" says The Hollywood Reporter
The story centers on a frustrated doctor (Bloom) looking to impress his superiors and colleagues. When his 18-year-old patient, admitted for a kidney infection, provides him with the esteem he so craves, the doctor tampers with her treatment so that she'll have to stay at the hospital with him.
Michael Peña is an orderly who discovers the doctor's budding relationship and blackmails him for prescription painkillers, Troy Garity plays a successful and self-assured doctor, and Courtney Ford, is s a woman who falls for Bloom's character.
Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons are also in negotiations to co-star in the pic.
John Enbom (Veronica Mars) has written the script and Lance Daly is attached to direct the film.
Production kicks off this week in Los Angeles.
