Amityville Horror: Found Footage Film

Dimension Films and Miramax Films are joining forces to produce The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes says THR



This is the first film to be produced under the agreement between shingles to create sequels to some of Miramax's best-known properties

TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein and Miramax CEO Mike Lang announced the new pic from Cannes

Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands penned the script and will direct the found footage style film It follows the the events of  the original The Amityville Horror dating back to 1976. as an ambitious female television news intern is on the verge of breaking the story of the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers.

Production will start this summer with a release date scheduled for January 27, 2012

"We are thrilled to return to the mythology of the Amityville Horror with a new and terrifying vision that will satisfy our existing fans and also introduce an entirely new audience to this popular haunting phenomenon," Weinstein said.

Ugh! And then there's The Amityville Legacy 3D that's also in the works at another studio.

Ok I'll let them have both horror reboots if they are better than the Amityville Horror of '05 or any of pics in the 80's that  followed the first one. Promise?
