Lots of industry news happened recently that Julian and I couldn't get to...

-"Scary Movie" actress Anna Faris is in negotiations to play the female lead in the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy "The Dictator" says THR. Cohen plays a deposed foreign dictator living in New York City. Faris will play the owner of a  store. Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas also star. Shooting kicks off June 5th in New York and Spain.

-Italian director/actor Roberto Benignihas joined the ensemble cast of Woody Allen's upcoming Italy-set next project says Deadline

-Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirms to Collider that he won’t reprise his role as Cobra Commander in the "G.I. Joe" sequel.



-Also, Michael Sheen has confirmed to  MTV that he's no longer set to play Roger Collins in the upcoming Tim Burton-directed “Dark Shadows" movie

-AOL reports Ed Falco's new book, "The Family Corleone", is a prequel to Mario Puzo's "The Godfather" novel based on an unproduced Puzo screenplay



-Speaking of the Mob Kelly Preston will join her real-life husband John Travolta in "Gotti: Three Generations". Preston will play Victoria Gotti, the wife of John Gotti Sr. (Travolta) while their real-life daughter, Ella Bleu, 11, will play their on-screen daughter, Angel Gotti according to People

-Bad Teacher" director Jake Kasdan will direct "Family Getaway" says the LA Times The story follows a dysfunctional-family tale about a clan that has to go on the run after its Thanksgiving dinner is crashed by assassins. Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer penned the original script

-Chris Kraus ("Four Minutes") has signed on to adapt Helen FitzGerald's darkly-comic thriller novel "Dead Lovely" says THR . The story centres on best friends Krissie and Sarah who go on a trip to the Scottish Highlands to mend their friendship. But a dose of magic mushrooms and some suppressed hostility send things spiraling out of control

-Anthony Hopkins has reportedly been talking to Angelina Jolie about taking on the role of Sir Winston Churchill in "Churchill and Roosevelt" reports MTV News.

-Bill Murray is locked to play Franklin D. Roosevelt in the historical drama "Hyde Park on Hudson" says Variety. While Laura Linney is in  talks to play Margaret 'Daisy' Suckley in the historical drama says The Daily Mail.

-Danny Boyle will helm the thriller "Trance" next says Deadline.

-Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") is set to direct a new untitled horror feature says The Los Angeles Times. The story is described as a horror tale which has a crime at the heart of its plot. Jason Blum will be producing.

-The team behind the upcoming "The Three Musketeers 3D" are re-assembling for a big-budget period movie about the destruction of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii says The Hollywood Reporter.

-"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "She's Out Of My Leugue" star Jay Baruchel has signed on to write an adaptation of the comic "Random Acts of Violence" and is in final negotiations to rewrite "Exorcism Diaries" for Summit Entertainment says Heat Vision. Wow...


-“Pirates” film series writer Terry Rossio tells The Hollywood Reporter that he’s delivered the script for a fifth 'film' to Disney. Star Johnny Depp may be happy to play the role again, but thinks they should wait a bit after the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". bows May 20th. Depp says “It boils down to story, script and filmmaker. It’s not something where I would say, ‘Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012. We should hold off for a bit. -"Water for Elephants" helmer Francis Lawrence tells MTV News that he'd be up for doing a sequel to Constantine, but has no desire to do an I Am Legend prequel.

-Warner Bros. Pictures is keen to get Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer to pen two separate scripts for their upcoming "Tarzan" reboot reports Deadline

-Ellen Rapoport ("Desperados," "Three Moons Over Milford") has been hired to pen a film adaptation of Adena Halpern's book "29: A Novel" for 20th Century Fox says Variety.The romantic comedy centers on a 75-year-old woman whose wish to be 29 again comes true. Ugh not another one of these kinda pics John Davis will produce but no director is aboard.

-Ricky Gervais has joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids: All the Time in the World says THR. The actor is going to lend his voice for a robotic spy dog, Argonaut.
