In a world where everything is a literary adaptation, remake/rehash, or rip-off that gives no credit to its obvious origin, we have two “edgy” adaptations of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the works.
One is an untitled Relativity venture (it was once titled Brothers Grimm: Snow White) that stars Lily Collins as the fairest one of all, Armie Hammer as the dashing prince, and Julia Roberts as the wicked queen. The other, Snow White and the Huntsman, comes from Universal and stars Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Thor’s Chris Hemsworth as the respective titular characters.
The former title is currently slated for a release on June 29, 2012, while Universal initially aimed for “Huntsman” to hit in December of the same year. Well, that’s changed, as The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog relays that the studio moved it to a release at the beginning of the month to directly compete with Tarsem Singh’s take for Relativity
