Murray Nixes Return For "Ghostbusters 3"

After months of back and forth, Dan Aykroyd says that Bill Murray will officially NOT be returning as Dr Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters 3.

Unfortunate....

Aykroyd tells SMH

"Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."

"Men In Black 3" and "Tropic Thunder" writer Etan Cohen was hired to pen a new draft of the script for the long gestating comedy sequel.

Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky were hired almost four years ago to write the previous drafts that were said to revolve around Dana and Peter's lovechild, Oscar, and his new found job as a "Ghostbuster"

It's presumed that the rest of the series stars Dan Aykroyd Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver will be back.

Ivan Reitman will return to helm the sequel.
