Variety reports that Idris Elba is set to star in the thriller Bastille Day.
Andrew Baldwin's screenplay that
follows a U.S. operative (Elba) who is told to make a young American boy "disappear" to avoid any embarrassment
after he is linked as a prime suspect in a Paris metro bombing. After several
more attacks take place, the agent realizes that the young boy is innocent,
and in fact, that he may be the only link to the actual perpetrator.
The film will not be Elba’s next movie since it’s still in development. While it
currently has no director--at one time both Pierre Morel
and Baran bo Odar were previously attached.
Philippe Rousselet Steve Golin, Bard Dorros and David
Kanter will produce the project .
