Dance Partners

Andie MacDowell has joined the cast of the upcoming remake "Footloose" says Entertainment Weekly.

The story follows a rebellious high school outsider named Ren (Kenny Wormald) who moves to a new town where the local Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) despises the music the kids of his sleepy Southern town listen to and tries to ban rock and roll music.

Ren and his love interest (Julianne Hough) proceed to shake things up. MacDowell will play Vi Moore, the wife of the reverend.

Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer starred in the 1984 original version.

Craig Brewer calls action from his script.

Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Brad Weston and Dylan Sellers will produce. Shooting on the project kicks off shortly to meet its release on April 1, 2011.

Quaid and MacDowell played a married couple once before in the 2001 drama "Dinner With Friends".
