Cumber Some

Benedict Cumberbatch joins the cast of the new adaptation of John le Carré's classic Cold War book "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy reports The Sunday Times.

The British thesp will play Peter Guillam, the protégé of middle-aged, pen-pushing British intelligence operative George Smiley (Gary Oldman) who must find the identity of a Soviet mole within 'The Circus', the highest echelons of the S.I.S. (MI6).

The half-French Guillam comes from a family with a long history in the S.I.S. and is in charge of the 'Scalphunters', the violent division of 'The Circus'. He essentially serves as Smiley's assistant in the mole hunt, though has personal reasons as he's still carrying the mental scars from his network of informants in French North Africa being compromised and executed.

Ralph Fiennes Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender co star

Peter Morgan is adapting the script.

Let The Right One In's Tomas Alfredson as shooting kicks off in October in London.

Cumberbatch has appeared in films such as Atonement Creation The Other Boleyn Girl Four Lions and "Amazing Grace --with The Whistleblower, and "War Horse".upcoming He's also won raves in the BBC series Sherlock

Not only is the guy a good actor but you gotta love his last name!
