Paramount Pictures has nixed plans to screen test several young actors and instead have chosen Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner to star with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible IV reports Deadline.
Tom Hardy and Chris Pine were wanted but pretty booked
Kevin Zegers, Christopher Egan and Anthony Mackie were then put on the list for the sequel though Mackie pulled out of the running. Tests with the other two have now been cancelled.
Brad Bird is directing from a script by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. Shooting kicks off this Fall in the U.S., Vancouver, Prague and DubaiThere's also rumbles from Variety that the film may reboot the series with Renner taking over the lead for Cruise should it do well.
Casting has begun to find strong females for MI IV as well...
