With production wrapped it's been revealed that newcomer James Howson
plays the role of Heathcliff in Andrea Arnold's upcoming film adaptation of Emily Brontë's classic book. "Wuthering Heights" reports The Daily Mail
Howson is believed to be the first black actor to star in the role in any screen adaptation of the work. In fact some academics believe Heathcliff was not meant to be white in the book where he's described as a "dark-skinned gypsy in aspect".
Howson stars opposite Brit TV series "Skins" star Kaya Scodelario as the doomed Catherine.
Arnold's approach is to return to the novel’s roots of doomed teenage lovers, thus they cast unknowns rather than the thirty something big name stars who've appeared in previous adaptations including Laurence Olivier, Ralph Fiennes, Timothy Dalton and most recently Tom Hardy.
Arnold made the pic under tight secrecy. Howson has no social networking sites.
Not easy to keep anything quiet in this industry Bravo!!!!
