Michael Fassbender ("Shame," "X-Men: First Class") is in early talks to star in the romantic drama "The Mountain Between Us" says Variety.
Based upon the Charles Martin penned novel, the story follows a female writer heading off to get married and a doctor (Fassbender) returning home from a medical conference. After their flight is cancelled, the strangers agree to charter a ride only to see the pilot suffer a heart attack and crash into a desolate snowy mountain. The doctor is an avid climber and he struggles to help get her down from the mountain in harsh weather.
Gerardo Naranjo ("Miss Bala") will call action
J. Mills Goodloe wrote the adapted the script.
Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping will produce the film.
Fassbender is ever busy with "Prometheus" coming out in June, has also signed for Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" and Steve McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave
