Bille August ("The House of the Spirits," "Smilla's Feeling for Snow") is attached to direct an adaptation of author Stefan Zweig's 1938 novel "Beware of Pity" says Screen Daily.
The story follows a young lieutenant invited to have dinner at a Hungarian aristocrat’s castle. There he meets a paralyzed young woman who falls in love with him.
August and writer Greg Latter, who previously worked together on "Goodbye Bafana" and "Night Train to Lisbon," are reuniting for the English language film which will feature a German and international cast.
Lars Sylvest and Helge Sasse will produce the pic.
Filming takes place next year in Bavaria, Austria and Hungary ahead of a 2015 release.
