de Matteo Joins, Hendricks Gets Bigger Role In "Dark Places"

Drea de Matteo has signed on join the film adaptation of author Gillian Flynn's novel "Dark Places" says THR


Charlize Theron stars as Libby Day, who testified against her brother as the murderer of their family. However, over a quarter of a century later and the brother looks to have gained some followers in the form of the Kill Club. Theron’s character is pushed to face her past as the group try to prove the man’s innocence.

Nicholas Hoult would play a an awkward young man Lyle, the treasurer of the Kill Club. Chloe Grace Moretz would play a character called Diondra. "World War Z" and The Conjuring star Sterling Jerins will play the younger version of Theron's character. Mud star Tye Sheridan plays Ben, the 16-year-old brother

de Matteo plays the older version of Krissi Cates character. Krissi has been haunted by a secret from her past that could have great implications for Theron’s Libby Day character and her jailed brother Ben (Corey Stoll). Christina Hendricks (Drive) was pegged to play the role but she will now play Patty Day, the mother of Theron's Libby Davis after Samantha Morton bowed out. She will appear in a number of flashbacks.

Stéphane Marsil Peter Safran Theron Beth Kono A.J. Dix Cathy Schulman Matthew Rhodes and Matt Jackson will produce, with Guy East, Nigel Sinclair, Tobin Armbrust and Alexis Brunner are executive producing.

Production is underway on location in Shreveport, Louisiana
