Smith Wants In On ID4 Sequels After All?

While promoting the Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx actioner White House Down in foreign markets, Roland Emmerich now says Will Smith may be back in the mix to reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller in the upcoming ID Forever Part I and ID Forever Part II.

He tells Digital Spy:

"I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn't want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen."

I am sure that the poor showing of Smith's latest film After Earth is behind Will's reversal.

At last report Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, were set to reprise their roles as tech whiz David Levinson and Pullman was President Thomas J. Whitmore respectively.

Screenwriter James Vanderbilt ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Zodiac") is currently at work on a polish of Emmerich and Dean Devlin's script for the second film.

Emmerich added that the everything associated with the films is still in flux right now:

"It is changing every month, because putting together a sequel of this magnitude is an enormous undertaking. I am sure we will make it, either for 2015, or 16. Right now, as it looks...Probably 16."
