Conrad's An Outpost Of Progress Becomes A Movie

Screen says that Portuguese producer Paulo Branco is planning a film adaptation of author Joseph Conrad's 1897 short story "An Outpost Of Progress".

Drawing on Conrad's own experience in the Congo, it deals with two European men who are assigned to a trading post in a remote part of the African jungle. As isolation demoralises the pair and diseases weaken them, the story ultimately ends in tragedy.

Hugo Vieira Da Silva directs the film which will shoot in Angola near the location in which Conrad wrote the story.

Branco previously produced an adaptation of Conrad's "Almayer's Folly" in 2011.
