Bryan Singer's "X-Men Days of Future Past" prominently features the original trilogy stars in a time warped adventure. It has been assumed that the next chapter in the film series--the recently announced "X-Men: Apocalypse" would only feature the "X-Men: First Class" cast..until hints that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would return...
"X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris as well as Simon Kinberg are writing the script for "Apocalypse" .
The younger actors introduced in "First Class" James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast). Lucas Till (Alex “Havoc” Summers), etc. are contracted for three films and are locked in to return.
It is likely that Channing Tatum is set to play the X-Men's mutant Gambit
Screenwriter/producer Kinberg seems to suggest that at least
a few more original mutants may also show up in the next film.
Kinberg tells The Daily Beast:
"[Apocalypse] will focus primarily on the First Class cast, but it will
certainly have some of the original cast involved too."
How this will work isn't known since we know the next film will be set in the 1980s. Certainly
various first trilogy characters could appear, but they would be
younger versions and would have to be
recast.
The mutants will take on the comic's greatest villain Apocalypse.
The film will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2
