Short List For "The 5th Wave" Male Lead

Tye Sheridan ("Mud") Nick Robinson ("Jurassic World") and newcomer Mitchell Hope are all expected to test for the male lead role in the sci-fi thriller "The 5th Wave" says Variety.

Based on author Rick Yancey's novel series, the story follows 16-year-old Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) as one of the last humans on earth after four devastating waves of alien attacks, and she’s determined to get her baby brother back.

The studio hopes the pic will serve as a potential franchise launcher.

Filmmaker J Blakeson ("The Disappearance Of Alice Creed") will direct using Susannah Grant's adapted script.

Tobey Maguire, Graham King, Tim Headington, Denis O'Sullivan and Matt Plouffe are producing.
