Out promoting Bryan Singer's "X-Men Days of Future Past" writer and producer Simon Kinberg revealed in an interview with Total Film
that American Horror Story favorite Evan Peters will return as the speedy Quicksilver in "X-Men: Apocalypse"--and could also be joined by his sister Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch:
"We talked about bringing Scarlet With into the mix for
this film, and there was actually a little scene we shot that we ended
up cutting from the movie that alluded to her. But it was a sort of
interstitial scene that didn't push the movie forward, and so it ended
up being cut, like lots of bits and pieces in a movie that's this
complicated and with this many characters to follow. But he would
absolutely be back for the next X-Men movie."
Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson play a different incarnation of the super siblings in Joss Whedon's team up sequel "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" out May 1st 2015.
Kinberg discussed the "controversy" over Quicksilver's
appearance in Bryan Singer's "X-Men Days of Future Past" and how the character is also
a part of "Ultron":
"It wasn't something we anticipated, because we didn't
know they were using him in The Avengers movie. It got publicized weeks
after we made the decision that we had done it, and then after that
even, I think it was a little while before the controversy started in
terms of them using him too."
"X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris as well as Kinberg are writing the script for "Apocalypse" .
The younger actors introduced in "X-Men: First Class" James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast). Lucas Till (Alex “Havoc” Summers), etc. are contracted for three films and are locked in to return.
It is likely that Channing Tatum is set to play the X-Men's mutant Gambit
Because the film is a direct sequel to "Days of Future Past" it will focus strictly on the younger cast as they take on the comic's greatest villain Apocalypse.
The film will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2
