Plans are moving ahead for a
reimagining of the 1993 Renny Harlin-directed action thriller "Cliffhanger" says Deadline.
In the original film Sylvester Stallone played a traumatized mountain climber forced back into an expedition after a failed mid-flight heist leaves three cases of stolen money and a group of crooks (led by John Lithgow) stranded in the Rocky Mountains.
A group of screenwriters pitched their ideas for new take on the premise--with the version by Joe Gazzam ("Shadow Run") winning out. Gazzam will now write the full script.
Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce the updated pic.
