Goyer Helps Get "Fantastic Voyage" Remake Going Again

THR reports that "Man Of Steel" writer David S. Goyer will write the treatment for the remake of  Fantastic Voyage.

The original Fantastic Voyage, a sci-fi classic from 1966 followed a scientist who is dying of a blood clot. His only chance for survival is for five scientist colleagues to be miniaturized in a ship, and injected into his bloodstream.

The original, directed by Richard Fleischer, starred Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence.

The redux has been in development for years and has seen many writers try to crack the script: Shane Salerno, "National Treasure" scribes Marianne and Cormac Wibberley and Laeta Kalogridis among them.

Directors like Roland Emmerich Paul Greengrass and Shawn Levy have circled the center seat to chart the film at points along the way

The project has been quiet since 2011 but Goyer’s involvement kickstarts it and will re-engineer what the studio and producers hope will be an event-sized tentpole. It is also now placing the project on the fast-track.

James CameronJon Landau, and Rae Sanchini are producing the film.

Goyer will executive produce with Matt Reilly

As a fan of Fleischer's work in general, and his Fantastic in particular, I'm dubious about a remake...No matter who is doing it
