Exhibitor Relations reports that filmmaker David O. Russell will make the biopic "Joy" as his next movie.
The film chronicles the life of Joy Mangano--a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the
country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention.
Russell's American Hustle and The Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence is being courted to play Mangano but there's no confirmation that she's signed on yet
Annie Mumolo ("Bridesmaids") penned the initial script. Elizabeth Gabler and Rodney Ferrell have since reworked it. Russell will rewrite that draft.
John Davis, John Fox and Ken Mok are producing.
Fox has pegged a Christmas 2015 release date.
