Actor and funny man Bernie Mac passed away today at the age of 50.
Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005.
Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia 8 days ago,, and shortly thereafter a source close to the family said Mac was in "very, very critical" condition.
His pneumonia was most likely brought on by his sarcoidosis. However his publicist, Danica Smith, said he was expected to make a full recovery, and he was responding well to treatment...
Chicago's Cook County Medical Examiner's office said that he died of natural causes.
Mac appeared in numerous films like Friday, Above the Rim Who's the Man? and Mo' Money. He co-starred with a who's who of Hollywood in the caper flick Ocean's Eleven and then did rhe sequels Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. He also had his own self-titled network sitcom "The Bernie Mac Show" from 2001-2006.
Mac could carry a film too as evidenced by his role in Mr 3000 as aging baseball star who stages a comeback. And he was great in 05's Guess Who-playing a dad who didn't want his daughter to marry Ashton Kutcher. And there's his turn as Bosley Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle; And that humorous cameo he had in Transformers...2 film for '09-Old Dogs and Soul Men are in post-production...
Mac will be missed both as a person and a performer.
