After months of Buzz...Matthew Vaughn will indeed direct "Kick-Ass," a film version of creator Mark Millar's comic book says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows high school nerd Dave Lizewski who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass. Soon he runs into real bad guys with real weapons.
The ultra-violent story deals with kids taking on adults of all stripes, so extreme is the book that all of the major Hollywood studios passed on it - forcing Vaughn to raise the money for the $30 million indie himself
Christopher Mintz-Plasse ("Superbad") will play the Red Mist, the angry teen son of a mobster who tries to find out Kick-Ass' secret identity. Chloe Moretz has also been cast as a ferocious, potty-mouthed 11-year-old who chops down crime thugs with a ninja sword.
Vaughn is talking to several high-profile stars to play parents or mobsters, while the lead role of Dave has yet to be cast.
Millar's Wanted film was a hit this Summer-making his work fashionnable properties Violence or no I'm surprised the majors passed
Filming on Kick Ass begin in the Fall.
