First it was Harry Potter on the move and now it's James Bond's turn...Quantum Of Solace has a new release date in the U.S.
News broke today that 'Solace' has been delayed a week in the United States, as a result the film is now scheduled to open November 14th.
Folks in Australia and New Zealand will have to wait longer with releases scheduled for November 27th. This means the film will open in the US two weeks after its initial release in the UK and France on October 31st, while Aussies get it four weeks later.
In the US, the reason for the delay was the move of "Harry Potter" out of the Thanksgiving slot, giving the film a better chance at the Thanksgiving box-office where Bond is normally situated.
It's also put 007 up against familiar foes -. "Casino Royale" opened in 2006 but was beaten to the top spot by the CG-animated "Happy Feet" with the voices of Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman
"Solace" is set to compete with Baz Luhrmann's Australia featuring none other than Jackman and Kidman.
The strategy doesn't make much sense from an anti-piracy standpoint. But Okaaaay.....
