Though the Lisbeth Salander role has yet to be cast, David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has added Robin Wright says Deadline.
Wright is negotiating to star as Erika Berger, the editor of Millennium magazine who works with Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig). Former lovers who still care deeply for each other, Berger and Blomkvist still hook up occasionally despite her marriage.
Wright's deal includes an option for both sequels which is key because the character plays an increasingly important part in later installments.
Steven Zaillian penned the adapted script from late author Stieg Larsson's bestselling Millennium trilogy-- He will also adapt the second book for the potential sequel
Scott Rudin will produce the pic.
Aside from the Salander role--also yet to be cast include retired industrialist Henrik Vanger, Lisbeth's sinister guardian Nils Bjurman, and Mikael's lawyer sister Annika Giannini.
