The story follows a father who becomes a drug mule to save his son's life.
Neil Cross penned the script based on an idea by Guillermo del Toro who is producing.
Shooting will kick off next year after Cross turns in his next draft.
With this news Kirk remains attached to direct "Paper Wings" and was previously linked to "Thor 2" before Patty Jenkins was pegged for the job
