The Fan Film Superman: Requiem

If you have ever read my post Like It Was Yesterday you know part of the story of how I became such a film guy--including aspirations of getting into the biz as a director at one time...Today I call your attention to a group of filmmakers who were inspired by the same source material...

Superman Requiem is a fully produced feature length fan film written and directed by Gene Fallaize that takes place after the events of Richard Donner's Superman, Superman II and Bryan Singer's Superman Returns....

Before you moan--with regard to SR--the kid is not part of the story and his fate is explained...

When the Man of Steel (Martin Richardson) is rendered almost powerless by an evil mastermind (Paul Khanna), he must find a way to prove to the world that he is still a super man.

Sophia Ellis, Julian McDowell and Lucy Bruegger also star. There's also a cameo by Jack O'Halloran who played the Kryptonian villain Non in Donner's films.

The film boasts a fine score by Composer Joseph Bennie recalling John Williams' rousing music nifty production design from Graham Pitt and a few winks to the TV show Smallville...among other things.

While shortcuts and budget limits sometimes take you out of the film it still manages to soar just the same as it pays tribute to some talented folks who made the world "Believe A Man Can Fly"

The film runs 82 minutes and is worth a look if you feel the same about Donner's films as I do...

Thanks to Gene and his entire cast and crew for keeping the dream alive...Well done!
