Channing Tatum is being considered to star in Steven Soderbergh's version of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E" according to Deadline.
The original 60's series saw Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as two agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.), who fought the forces of Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity (T.H.R.U.S.H.).
Tatum would star as Napoleon in the pic--A role that up unitil last week Bradley Cooper was in talks for but he left the table.
Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgård, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Robert Pattinson Leonardo DiCaprio Ryan Reynolds were on the list at one point. It's also unclear whether one or two of them might take the male leads.George Clooney was gonna play the role but left the pic as well
While I would still like to see Gosling and JGL headline the pic...Tatum has worked with Soderbergh before in the upcoming Haywire (which looks like it kicks ass by the way) the semi-biopic Magic Mike and makes sense from that standpoint. And that he has the action com 21 Jump Street under his belt too
Scott Z. Burns wrote the latest script draft of U.N.C.L.E
David Dobkin, Jeff Kleeman and John Davis are producing the action comedy which will be set in the 60's
A spring start is being eyed
