Lego Movie Clicking Into Place

After several years in the development wasteland and lots of back and forth with the toy company, the LEGO film is moving forward with a 2014 release date planned says Variety.

Back in 2008 Hotel Transylvania scribes Dan and Kevin Hageman had worked on the script previously for a live-action/animation hybrid family comedy based in the magical land of Lego.

Then last year Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs") were tasked with the project

We can expect casting to begin in January.

Dan Lin Roy Lee and Doug Davison will produce the film.

Visual effects house Animal Logic is expected to provide 80% of the animation for the as yet Untitled Lego Project

Chris McKay will co-direct the pic which will be made in Australia. Details will be announced at a press conference in Sydney this week.
