The Kickstarter-funded documentary from filmmaker Jon Schnepp explores the failed gestation of the late 1990s film "Superman Lives" which collapsed while in development.
The first script draft was penned by Kevin Smith (and was later revised), and starred Nicolas Cage as Clark Kent and Tim Burton as director The film was a loose adaptation of "The Death of Superman" storyline and featured the multiple villains.

All I can say is I am sooooo very glad that despite his desire to play the role--the world was spared from seeing Cage as Superman. (Shudder!!)
The film is set for release next summer.
