Truck Stop

Director Craig Brewer will write and direct the action comedy "Mother Trucker" according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a Maxim article written by Steven Russell, the tale is about a man who escapes from jail, steels an 18-wheeler and heads across the South to see his dying mother with police on his trail.

The flick is seen as a contemporary version of 1977's "Smokey and the Bandit"

Peter Jaysen from the mag is gonna produce, while Gary Scott Thompson (TV's new "Knight Rider") will executive produce.

Brewer's not really known for yuking it up but as a fan of his work--I'm willing to take this ride to see where it leads.
