Loren Speaks With "The Human Voice"

In her first starring role in a decade, screen legend Sophia Loren will star in her son Edoardo Ponti's film "La voce umana" (The Human Voice) says THR


Directed by Ponti, the movie is based on a one-person play written by French poet/writer Jean Cocteau. The French story will be adapted into Italian and set in Rome, Naples, and Ostia.

"La voce umana" is not be the first time Ponti has directed his mother. She also starred in his 2002 drama "Cuori estrani (Between Strangers)," which marked his feature film directing  debut.

The film starts a three week shoot this month.
